For Movie Fans Only Volumes 1, 2 and 3

December 03, 2000 | Music
These three CD's are the final releases of the Czech Elvis Presley Fanclub. They cover most of the soundtrack recordings of twenty of Elvis' movies.

Design
The CD's are all done in the same style thereby forming a whole. The booklet contains background information on the versions included on these CD's. The inside of the booklets contain some great movie posters and movie stills.

Content

There will always be discussion on the quality of Elvis movie soundtracks, but between the "mass production" some great songs were recorded. With the amount of movies presented on these CD's we get both (movie) classics like "Viva Las Vegas" and "Jailhouse Rock" and great songs like "Song Of The Shrimp" mixed together. The fact that the CD's contain a lot of movie versions from a lot of movies per CD makes it a nice alternative for the soundtracks you already know. Also the studio chat and some movie sounds add to that. Elvis saying "Man That's awful, do I sound like that?" is a nice addition to the soundtrack. For soundtrack versions the quality of the sound is good. Nothing much can be added to these CD's, they are a nice collection of movie songs in alternative versions.

Conclusion

Overall we return to our conclusion for the previous Czech releases. These CD's are interesting to those who collect out-takes (or in this case movie versions) and missed the import releases from the past, or those who stick to "official" CD's only and do want to have these out-takes.

For the real collector, there's probably not too much he hasn't already got on these CD's. Although the thematic presentation of the out-takes is a great idea which makes the tracks come together as a whole.
