Tom Jones Tribute

June 11, 2015 | People

Sir Tom Jones, who just turned 75 last week, started a festival tour. In his new setlist is a tribute to Elvis, Gillian Welch and partner/Producer David Rawlings wrote this song, Elvis Presley Blues.

Though Tom sounds in fine voice, that pulsing techno sound is very irritating. I really like the tune as sung by Gillian Welch, even more so when performed by Jimmy Buffett. The lines, "He was all alone in a long decline/Thinking how happy John Henry was that he fell down and died" hardly seems like something you would want in a tribute, but hey, it's Tom Jones.

Definitely not for me. Music wise super dull. A tribute . . . Not in the least.

Saw Tom Jones live yesterday at retropop in holland. He is still an outstanding performer at 75. He played tomorrow night, never fall in love and shake a hand. The elvis tribute song sounded really good live! I was impressed by his performance yesterday!

Not something I would listen to. "Music" is annoying to me. Words don't have a lot of meaning to connect with. Love Tom, but this song doesn't display his friendship and love for Elvis to me.

I am glad there are still performers in the world like Tom Jones. A real throwback to a better time in music. Keep going Mr Jones!
