Good to know about this forthcoming release, but in the meantime : still no trace of the announced " You don't have to say you love me " by the same label. Always El.

Is this another "2 mic ambient" recording, or just a straight audience recording? Does anyone know? Thanks.

benny scott-i am afraid that both releases are out at the same time?.....bit like waiting for a bus?...you wait for ages then 2 show up at the same time....still worth the wait.

Hi drjohn, you could be right ! The release of "You don't have to say..." was annouced for october 1st and we're already the 16th. But I wouldn't mind if the two would be released at the same time, as long as I can obtain them. Better late than never. Always El.

Pardon the semantics but these booth recordings (BR) are too loosely referred to as audience recordings (AR) as if some audience member used a hand held device which results in almost inaudibly muffled sound (bar exeptions). These BR's sound too good for that. Note these similarities, from the Feb 15DS & Aug 20 1973MS and the 'I Found My Thrill' medley from FTD the room echo and the audience response level is the same. Both Elvis and the band sound very up front and well balanced and more importantly theres no close up audience chatter. No 2 AR's can produce such showroom atmosphere. Which is why I'm convinced that these BR's were professionally arranged by the sound engineers. Yet I only here of these '2-mic ambience recordings from bootleg press releases. It's time Sony/FTD the powers-that-be should also shed light on these as well. There's no mention of these from JAT's 'Sessions' series. They're better than some of the unbalanced SB's out there.

Well said, Dazman. I am cetain that these so-called booth recordings were taped by either a sound engineer or somebody in Elvis' entourage. Keith Flynn mentions several of them that were taped in 1973 and I would welcome their future release on FTD or elsewhere. I agree that they can sound better than some of the soundboard recordings which have little or no hall ambience, giving them a somewhat flat sound. The concerts recorded by RCA for release had the audience miked up and this was blended in with the music during mixing.

I have been told this is a 'straight audience recording' but a VERY good one!~hope this helps and i'll certainly be buying this release!~
