All bootlegs (sorry "imports") are made to make a buck. Most re-cycle previously available material, why is this any different? As for it being "home made", it looks well put together to me so how is it "crap"? Any more so than say a lousy quality audience recorded show that's greeted by some with open arms. Shame FTD didn't think of this (they probably will at some point).

You might think it's pointless, maybe it is but all these "CRAP" comments are becoming tiresome. Something you don't personally approve of, it's CRAP, something we have to "simply AVOID". Why - it looks quite nicely done to me. The digi pak certainly looks OK, does anyone know if the disc is factory pressed?

There are a variety of reasons for collecting, I'm sure you know that. Forty years after the death of an artist it isn't necessarily JUST about unreleased music. There are those who would argue a fixation on endless repetitive low grade audience shows is equally odd (not me by the way, to each his own is my motto).
For "VivaLasDavies": please compare "Victrola" releases to this one. "Victrola" don't offer nothing new but their CD's aren't CRAP, pardon: "to avoid" like this one.

I'm with you VivaLasDavies too many people seem to be telling me what I should & shouldn't like to the point of insulting me if I like something that they don't (see my posting under the magazine heading) I can remember buying the original Hits Of The 70s LP when it came out and no, I didn't need it as I already had all the tracks but to me it was a great LP, don't know why it just was.
If the sound quality or packaging of this is not up to much then it may well indeed be CRAP but until we know then it's just an unknown quantity.
At last somebody speaking some sense. As you say, what exactly are these "CRAP" merchants basing these opinions on. Do they actually have this CD in front of them. Somehow I doubt it.
The Sony Masters box was available as illegal download on the internet when it came out. I wonder if the bootleggers downloaded it. Now they have "Elvis complete" on their harddrive. Now they are sitting there and think: "Let's Do the Return To Sender Camden LP on CD". They pull the 10 tracks in their burning-software, add 5 outtakes from another folder and 2 minutes later the 'master-CD' is ready. The next day they say: Well, let's do "Hits From The Movies Vol. 2". They blindly drag another 10 songs from the Sony master box download in their burning-software. Another 2 minutes of burning and another 'master-CD' is ready for the pressing-plant. And so it goes on and on. And some fans pay 20 bucks for it, and another 20 bucks, and another 20 bucks. Everytime the bootleggers drag 15 songs in their burning-software 300 or 500 fans pull 20 Euros out of their pockets and make these guys very happy. It's like a self-working money-machine. Save up your money guys. There's plenty of room for "Hits Of The 70s Vol. 2 Vol. 3 Vol. 4 .." .
Of course, Sony/BMG would never do such a thing. As for the burning/software comment, everyone can do this, it's about the finished product. Why releases like this get people SO worked up escapes me. They put it out, those that want it buy it - simple. No one's in any doubt what they're getting. When those endless audience recorded shows come out, personally I take a pass. I don't need people yelling CRAP to help me decide whether to buy or not.
I really don't mind if anybody buys crap, not even the Royal Nightmare CD... but it stays crap. And this is crap, without any doubt.

Why the big outcry? This sort of product has been around for a long time. It's not like there's a gun being held to your head making you buy it. I'd rather have the choice to buy then no choice at all. Choice, people! Personally, I choose NOT to buy this. But that's MY choice.
I wrote it in another post and I wrote it again: 500 unites of factory pressed CDs including color-digipack are 1 Euro each! Search the internet. To sell these crap-CD for even more than a regular CD (You can find these products for 18 - 19 - 20+ Euros at dealers and Ebay) is an impudence. I still hope for the "Was blind but now I see" effect. This has nothing to do with "From fans for fans". This is just pure rip-off.
I bought the FTD Elvis In The 70's, and although I have the songs many times over, enjoyed the compilation and probably play it more than my previously unreleased concert recordings. I'd give it a chance.
