The Japanese Elvis site mentions five Elvis titles which should be due for release on the Super High Material CD (SHM-CD) format from SONY/BMG Japan.
The titles are:
* Elvis Presley (BVCM-34401)
* Elvis' Golden Records (BVCM-34402)
* Blue Hawaii (BVCM-34403)
* That's The Way It Is (BVCM-34404)
* Aloha From Hawaii (BVCM-34405)
The high quality Super High Material CD format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

It seems very very interesting. Please we want these at reasonable price, and with real better sound. My request for Elvis on sacd thousands of times at least, even it's a different release, haves a little echo!!!

Please do not use the japanese 24bit reissues because they sound muted and dull comparet to the older japanese also K2 20bit mastering issues. If fails the sound all is wrong!

Somehow I feel the improved sound will not be worth the money. Especially on Elvis Presley which was recorded over 50 years ago with limented instrumentation. I think only a dog or cat with their superior hearing to humans would hear a noticeable difference.

I totally agree with theoldscudder. And as far as sound goes, do any of these titles, especially Aloha, really need any improvement?
