August 28, 2015 | Other

Elvis Presley continues to rule the charts.

"Elvis Forever," a new compilation offered exclusively at U.S. Post Offices to celebrate the release of the new Elvis Forever stamp, debuted on the Billboard Albums chart at No. 11. The 18-track CD sold 27,000 copies in its first week, making it the highest debut for an Elvis album since his "2nd to None" album debuted at No. 3 in 2003.

Impressive, I was not expecting it to debut that high.

Great news, but I doubt it'll do any better than #11. The first week is usually the highest peak for sales of a newly released Elvis cd. I'm hoping that the "If I Can Dream" cd will sell at least 4 times as many in its first week.

"Elvis Forever" dropped to #22 for its second week on the Billboard 200 chart.

The post office stopped selling the C.D. in August. So sadly it won't chart any higher unless they extend the promotion.
