Now that's a nice cover! Happy New Year everybody!

An interesting line up for a 2CD collection and will do our guy no harm at all.. However a minor quibble and as someone who has 390 songs on his playlists I fully realise you can't do the impossible on 49 songs, but why is Are You Lonesome Tonight ? (Laughing Version ) included when the master is also there but not one representative from 1975 -1977.

Just another compilation with the same ol' lineup of songs... yawwwn.

Of course it is a compilation as so many. Yet it draws the attention of the casual music lover. Did you expect something else? It is a general cd. So no prob. Of course I hope there will be something special this year, something stunning. But I realise that IF they had something special they would have cashed immediately. Like big names from the Elvis history are passing in so are the older fans. So I hope they act quickly (and of course with care!). Gorse, the laughing version is popular in The Netherlands. So I guess that's why it was included.

You must remember what sells in the Elvis world. Compilations. His regular albums draw little interest, so he is King of the Comps. As long as they sell, they will be issued. Of course no one here needs any of these cds, but this one at least has an awesome cover of which I am sure some will buy it for, as well as for the 80th theme. That laughing version of Are You Lonesome tonight however should be retired.

Could it be that all tracks on CD 2 are live versions ? Just out of interest ! Always El.

As there are no new recording sessions (sadly enough) there is not much more to expect than compilations. I understand that it is not commercially interesting enough to put out the old albums. At least he has his own compilations and not in combination with others (apart from a few songs). And I agree with Steve V that the laughing version should not be part of any compilation. It is fun for one time, but even that is questionabe.

Benny scott: 'Always on my mind' was not (to my knowledge) sung live. However, I do believe that CD-2 contains 'mostly' live versions, like the 1974 live version of 'How Great Thou Art'. I do agree with 'Gorse' that some songs from 1975 - 1977 should have been included (Promised land, T-R-O-U-B-L-E, Moody blue, Way down, My way - live 1977). A 3 CD set could also have been done to include more songs. But again that's just my opinion. TCB

Troubleman, you're right. It can be found as a rehearsal (March 30 1972), but that's not the same as a live performance in front of an audience. Always El.
